Abstract
The force acting normal to the die surface in the thread rolling process is called the rolling pressure. In this report the rolling pressure of the flat die type thread rolling machine was calculated according to Yamamoto's theory and the result of this calculation was compared with Reichel's experiment. Yamamoto's general equation on the rolling pressure is applicable in the case of the cylindrical die type machine in which the number of revolutions of the blank from the start to the end of rolling is large. However the number of revolutions of the blank is small in the case of the flat die type machine. So the general equation on the rolling pressure for this report was modified. This modified equation was solved for the same example as in Reichel's experiment. The solution shows a fair approximation to Reichel's experimental result.
