Abstract
This paper treats an involute pinion-type cutter as a conical involute gear, and establishes a convenient design and production system of this cutter based on the results in Part 1 of this paper. That is, a design of generating rack for generating the cutter, a design of a cylindrical hob for cutting the cutter, a design of a cutter shape, taper hobbing for roughing, and grinding for finishing are investigated systematically. According to this system, any involute pinion-type cutter can be designed and made easily. Three pinion-type cutters were designed and made for trial and it was confirmed that this system has a practical utility.
