Abstract
In the analysis of laminated plates, interface traction continuity cannot be satisfied by using the displacement-based higher-order plate element. This drawback has been overcome by the partial hybrid stress method. In this paper, the global-local analysis is further applied to the partial hybrid plate element to increase the efficiency computation. The performance of the formulation is assessed through the benchmark examples of orthotropic plates of various aspect ratios. In comparison with the existing elasticity solution, the present accuracy is between the displacement finite element and the partial hybrid finite element. Meanwhile, the through-thickness distribution of transverse shear stress in the local region is closely predicted.
