Abstract
The author has studied the method to solve the vibration problems of continuous bodies applying the collocation method to the analytic solutions. In some cases of flexural vibration and in-plane vibration of plates, the method gives very accurate results. However, the accuracy of a result is influenced by several factors and it is not possible to predict exactly what kind of result is obtained for every case. Such prediction depends on empirical knowledge rather than theoretical consideration. Although the knowledge acquired so far are not sufficient, some of them serve as rudimentary to generalization.
