Abstract

In this study, molecular dynamics simulations were performed on a hetero-nanostructure model in which two types of {11-22} compression twins were introduced to investigate the effect of deformation twins on the mechanical properties exhibited by hetero-nanostructured titanium. The slip system participating in slip propagation differs depending on the introduced deformation twin variant. We evaluated the slip propagation phenomena actually activated by the slip propagation theory, and found that the slip propagation phenomenon affects the mechanical properties of hetero-nanostructured titanium.
