The purpose of this study is to analyze the bending rigidity of graphene sheets (GSs) to elucidate the deformation mechanism caused by lattice defects. It is found that the bending rigidity of the GS can be derived by combining membrane theory and molecular dynamics simulation. Based on this result, the bending rigidity of the GS with various lattice defects such as dislocations and disclinations is derived, and the bending behavior of the GS is discussed. This contributes to the elucidation of the deformation mechanism and changes in the physical properties of GS and provides insight into the development of new materials.
