Abstract
This study presents analytical results on chaotic vibrations of a cylindrical shell-panel with a concentrated mass. The shelis simply supported for deflection at the boundaries. Chaotic responses of the shell are influenced by curvature, boundary conditions and initial deflection. In this research static and dynamic responses of the shell are calculated considering the effects of the curvature and initial deflections. The characteristics of chaotic responses obtained in the simulation agree with experimental ones. The chaotic vibration is generated by the sub-harmonic resonance of 1/2 order. Maximum Lyapnov exponent and number of vibration modes related to chaotic responses of the shell with a mass are lower than that of a shell without mass.
