Abstract
Bump foil gas journal bearings are hopeful applicants that can support a lightly loaded rotor of high-speed turbo-machinery including a micro gas turbine. The bearing is constructed with a flexible circular top foil supported by a corrugated bump foil and has remarkable rotordynamic characterics due to friction force acting on interating surface of both foils. This study aims at analyzing the stability of a horizontal rotor supported with bump foil bearing numerically.
