Abstract
This paper proposes a numerical approach to the flow in the oil damper with a simple harmonic oscillation. Using the Finite Difference Method (FDM), the authors have analyzed the flow around the piston. The purpose of this work is to calculate the damping force acted on the piston of the oil damper. To this end, we first calculate the flow around a flat plate with a simple harmonic oscillation, and the solutions shows that twin vortices are generated behind the plate. Next, we compute the flow in the actual oil darner. The computation area is restricted to the space behind the piston.
