Abstract
This paper proposes cluster control for a flexible beam that enables the generation of the vibration-free state in the structure. First, the design procedure of the cluster control system is derived; clarifying the absolute stability of the system based on the displacement or velocity sensors. Next, cluster filtering method is presented which extract the four state variables (displacement, slope, bending moment and shear force) dominating the vibration phenomena. Furthermore, the characteristics of the control system are clarified by numerical simulation. Finally, the experiment on the realization of vibration-free state is conducted, demonstrating the validity of the proposed method.
