Abstract
The hybrid electric vehicle (HV) has frequent internal combustion engine start/stop. Reduction of an uncomfortable vibration occurred at the engine start/stop period is desired. This paper presents the vibration reduction control method using a traction motor in the HV. The vibration reduction control method is designed based on the state equations of the HV drivetrain and reduces torsional vibration of the drive shaft. Experimental results with the HV prove the proposed method can reduce the vibration and achieve good driveability.
