Abstract
This report studies the effect of changing curvature on the optimum lay-ups of laminated shallow shells of rectangular planform. A method of Ritz is used to derive a frequency equation and the optimization is performed by using the layerwise optimization approach. Numerical examples show how the degree of curvature in both directions affects the optimum lay-ups for maximizing the fundamental frequencies.
