Abstract
Aerodynamic characteristics of a high-speed pantograph are very important to maintain steady current collection. We attempt to control the lift force of the panhead by jets ejected from its surface. To evaluate this method, we performed some wind tunnel tests using some panhead models having jet ejection device. The experimental results show that the pressure distributions on the models can be changed by adjusting the velocity of ejected jets. This means that the lift force of pantograph can be controlled by this method. Therefore, this method has a great potential for practical application.
