Abstract
Although the weight of passengers can be considered as an increment of carbody mass itself in design of traincarbodies, it has been shown that the passengers mass does not behave as a mere increase in mass because of theexisting coupled vibration between passengers and carbody. This study clarifies the coupled passenger-carbody vibration, and proposes a new model to design lightweight and comfortable railway vehicles using biomechanics. This paper shows experiment of coupled passenger-carbody vibrationwith new simulator that mimics the coupled passenger-carbody vibration. This paper describes a synthesis of a new passenger model to make consistency theexperiment result. Computer simulation using analytical model shows that the experimental result of vibration characteristics can be identified by passenger model, which has only 1 degree-freedom.
