Abstract
Since wire has a small damping, elevator wire may have a large vibration due to earthquakes. However it is not easy to install a damping device because of its structure. In this paper, a new damping device is proposed. The damper is composed of a spring, a mass and a magnet which does not contact with the wire. Theoretical analysis and experimental verification were carried out. This damper can suppress the resonance vibration of wire. This damper also has robustness for the change of wire length.
