Abstract
The traditional seismic isolation system is composed of sliding bearings or lead rubber. It can effectively isolate the horizontal earthquake motion, but it can not isolate the vertical earthquake motion effectively. In this paper, an active water hydraulic seismic isolation system is proposed to improve protection human lives and building's integrity against large earthquake. This paper is divided into four sections. Firstly, the design principle of the seismic isolation system is described. Then simulation is conducted to calculate the parameter for a single-family house seismic isolation device. Finally the basic experimental setup is constructed and experimental results show the good performance of the water hydraulic system. From the calculation results and experimental results, it can be conclude that the proposal of the seismic isolation device is feasible.
