Abstract
Suppression performance of active mass damper for vibration structures is decreased by the limitation of the active mass operational area. A switching vibration control strategy of active and passive mass damper based on dynamic energy of vibration structure had better performance against the limitation. However, it was difficult for the strategy to decide the most suitable threshold uniquely by trial and error. In this paper, it is considered to show the suppression performance of the strategy against earthquakes including various frequency modes in consideration of the structure's dynamics by simulations and experiments.
