Abstract
Tire forces are greatly affected by suspension characteristics. Thus, suspension characteristics are very important for vehicle dynamics. In this paper, to evaluate the effects of tire-suspension system on vehicle dynamics, we developed a tire-suspension hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator with an original testing machine that consists of a tire, a suspension system of passenger car and 6-degerr-of-freedom (6-DOF) motion platform. In this HIL simulator, real-time vehicle dynamic analysis is executed with measured tire forces, and 6-DOF motion platform is controlled based on analytical results. The effectivity of tire-suspension HIL simulator was examined by evaluation test.
