Abstract
This paper deals with the squeal phenomena generated in a floating type of car disc brake unit. The squeal is caused by the coupled out-of-plane vibration modes among rotor and caliper due to Coulomb friction. As a countermeasure, a dynamic absorber was applied to the leading side and the trading side of the inner caliper experimentally. And, the analytical model of the car disc brake system was set up. The dynamic absorber was applied also analytically. It was made clear that the natural frequency of the dynamic absorber should be tuned in to near the frequency of the squeal, and the squeal can be controlled even a damping is not put on the dynamic absorber. These results agreed well with experimentally and analytically.
