Abstract
This paper deals with mechanism of excitation in a curved fluid-conveying pipe, which is hanging horizontally and is supported at both ends. After predicting mechanism of excitation on the basis of physical consideration of governing equation, the first mode forced vibration and the parametric resonance of a planar curved pipe vibration were confirmed in the experiments. In addition, we discussed the above phenomena, especially the parametric resonance, by the application of the dynamical system theory. As a result, an approximate analysis solution was obtained.
