Abstract
In the engine exhaust system, the sine pressure wave changes to the shock wave because of nonlinear effect. Numerical simulation of this phenomenon was conducted by using finite difference method, but the computation speed was slow. This paper proposes a practical nonlinear wave analysis model, which uses a concentrated model. This model consists of masses and nonlinear springs and connecting dampers and base support danpers. By using this model, the simurations are carried out for a sound tube problem and a progressive wave problem in order to confilm the validness of this model. Numerical results agree well with experimental results.
