Abstract
Half ring structure is used for a stator vane of turbo-machinery. In order to exactly analyze the vibration response characteristics of a half ring structure, a whole model should be used, because the cyclic symmetry method cannot be applied for it. In the mechanical design, however, it is unpractical. In this paper, an efficient method for predicting the vibration response characteristics of a half ring structure is proposed. The vibration response characteristics of a half ring structure and a full ring structure are compared, using the formulation derived. The vibration response analysis for an actual steam turbine vane with a half ring structure is carried out to verify the validity of the method proposed here.
