Abstract
Vibration with a low frequency sometimes occurs in a vibro-impact system. The characteristics of the vibration are similar to those of the self-excited vibration. Therefore, this paper regards such a vibration as the self-excited vibration in a vibro-impact system, and investigates experimentally effects of some parameters on the vibration. The experimental apparatus consists of two rigid bars, one of which is excited by an unbalanced mass. The results show that the self-excited vibration occurs when the exciting frequency, unbalanced mass and constant of restitution are large. In particular, the vibration occurs clearly, that is, the natural frequency appears clearly, when the constant of restitution is small.
