Abstract
This paper proposes a horizontal locomotion method for a hopping mechanism which utilizes resonance. The system has two mass that can be resonated by actuators on them. Each mass is captured in a certain level of compression by latch mechanism and release of each latch mechanism with time lag yields the system's hop which realizes horizontal locomotion. Numerical analyses and experiment validates the proposed system.
