Abstract
It is important to increase the cruising range of electric vehicles, and therefore, electric power conservation technologies are being actively researched. In the present study, the energy loss due to dissipation by slippage during acceleration is evaluated and analytical solutions are derived. The conservation of energy via driving force distribution in an accelerating four-wheel drive vehicle is investigated. The driving forces are distributed such that the grip margin of the front and rear wheels is equalized. It is quantitatively confirmed that energy loss in a four-wheel drive vehicle is considerably lesser than that in a front- or rear-wheel drive vehicle. The energy loss is also evaluated as a function of the torque distribution ratio between the front and the rear wheels.
