Abstract

An active vibration isolation system with an active dynamic vibration absorber has been developed where an air actuator is used as a control device in a low-frequency range and a dynamic absorber used as an actuator in a high-frequency range. In this system, acceleration is measured by the dynamic vibration absorber in a low-frequency range and a low-cost MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) accelerometer in a high-frequency range. It aims to develop a high performance active vibration isolation system that is lower in cost than conventional active isolation system. The acceleration from the two sensors is integrated using sensor fusion and fed back after splitting the signal to the actuator for improving the dynamic response. Experiments are carried out where the compliance and transmissibility of the isolation system are measured using acceleration and velocity feedback of the sensor fusion signal. This report shows that dynamic displacement is reduced using additional absolute velocity feedback with absolute acceleration feedback in both compliance and transmissibility characteristics.
