Abstract
Wheel / rail wear affects running safety, ride comfort, and maintenance frequency. However, the studies on wear are under development and the clarification of the mechanism of wear development are required. In this study, an experimental discussion and a numerical analysis are conducted as an approach for mechanism clarification of wheel / rail wear development. The equipment is the 1/10 scale model of the actual bogie and the track with the practical shape of the wheel and the rail. The transition of the wheel / rail profile, the contact point and the contact force due to repeated passing are measured. From the experimental results, it is confirmed that the wheel / rail wear rate gradually decreases. And the rate of the inner wheel wear development is higher than the outer one, which seems to be caused by the difference of the slip rate due to the magnitude of the contact force and the transition of the contact point. In the numerical analysis, Simpack, which is numerical procedure with the aid of Multi-body dynamics software is used. From the analytic results, it is confirmed that the wheel /rail wear development changes according to the combination of the profile. In the future, there are necessary to implement of the experiments taking the profile into account and construct of the numerical analysis model close to the actual system are necessary.
