Abstract

This paper describes an experimental study on the liquid flow induced by the perpendicular vibrations near the water surface. We investigate the motions of water flow, and the effects of vibration on flow directions of water in a vessel. Consequently, the upward flow and the downward flows were observed. The upward flows were observed, when the bottom of the pillar was appeared upper the water surface. The downward flows were observed, when the center of vibration is under the water surface. The collision with the pillar and the water surface is important effect on the direction of flow.
