Abstract

Standing up and sitting down motion is related to low back pain (LBP) during pregnancy. The association between LBP and some particular movement in these motion especially focused on the posture of spinal column was needed to manage LBP during pregnancy. However, assessment of motion of spinal column has been difficult. Therefore, motion analysis of lumber spinal column of pregnant women during standing and sitting motion was conducted to investigation about the risk factor of low back pain by using inertial measurement units (IMUs) connecting seat in this study. The IMUs connecting seat was sheet-like device that 20 IMUs was connected in a row with an interval of 20 mm. The IMUs connecting seat was attached at the back of seven pregnant women along the spinal column. Then, the pregnant women performed standing up and sitting down motion. From the data of accelerometer and gyroscope at the motion analysis, evaluation of posture and movement of spinal column of pregnant women during standing and sitting motion was calculated. Then, the relationship between motion evaluation indexes and LBP were investigated by statistical analysis. As the results, some trend of the relationship between the motion of spinal column during sitting down motion and LBP was observed, although the statistical significant difference was not observed.
