Abstract

There are some researches that study a control method of hub-motor system to drive independently rotating wheels in order to realize wider and lower low-floor train. However, the new system might cause failure of hub-motors because they are fixed into wheels directly. Vibration isolation by resilient wheels is one of the way to protect the hub-motors from vibration. In this paper, we propose a new type of resilient wheel that is able to design vertical stiffness and other direction stiffness. Our study concludes that the proposed resilient wheel causes particular vibration but the vertical stiffness and other direction stiffness are able to design separately. In addition to this, the vertical vibration characteristics are completely the same as linear one degree of freedom vibration system. This means design process can be simple.
