Abstract

An analytical method based on the theory of thermohydrodynamic lubrication is developed for hybrid journal bearings that can be used from very low to very high speeds. The maximum temperature of the oil film is investigated by varying the preload factor and the oil supply pressure. It is found that the higher the preload factor, the higher the maximum temperature of the oil film at high Sommerfeld numbers. On the other hand, the effect of oil supply pressure is small.
