Abstract

The vertical rigidity of the suspension of a freight vehicle is set to be rigid according to heavy load conditions.

Safety is improved by suppressing the roll motion while softening the vertical rigidity under light load conditions. Passenger cars use air springs to increase safety. But freight trains do not use air springs. Therefore, a new anti-rolling device that does not have air springs was proposed. The proposed anti-rolling device with lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic torsion bar. A CFRP torsion bar was made for freight cars in scale model, and performance tests of the CFRP torsion bar were conducted. The target shape of the CFRP torsion bar was obtained by analytical modeling.

We made the CFRP torsion bar in the shape. The CFRP torsion bar performance tests were conducted.
