Abstract

Due to the manufacturing process or external forces, bubbles or partial delamination may occur in the adhesive layers of adhesively bonded mechanical structures In such cases, it is difficult to identify the shape of the adhesive layer after bonding because it is difficult to observe the adhesive layer in a non-destructive manner. In this study, we propose an inverse analysis method to identify the shape of the adhesive layer using topology optimization with the measured vibration response. In this report, we apply the proposed method to a simple structure with adhesive joints. To improve the identification accuracy target frequency range is optimized. Moreover, various regularization methods are examined to further more the accuracy of the proposed method.
