Abstract

Recent work has shown that it is possible to reproduce a large number of three-dimensional shapes from kirigami honeycomb patterns. In this work, two 3D printing methods are investigated. One from printing the original 3d structure and the other from printing the 2D pattern and folding it. The results show that the structure obtained from the folding of the 2D pattern maintains similar mechanical properties to the original 3d structures in addition to allowing the printing of three-dimensional structures that are not limited by the printing space and can be easily transported.
