Abstract
This paper discusses an advanced collaborative system to support creative design efforts that depend on interactive communication among a number of designers. The process of collaboration, a requirement of practically any project involving more than one person, is often difficult. However, increasingly sophisticated customer requirements impel companies to develop increasingly advanced products to maintain market share, placing further importance on creative design collaboration. Collaboration is based on interactive communication, which can be divided into cooperative and oppositional interactions. The effective resolution of oppositional interactions is crucial to successful collaboration. Equally important, however, is the preservation of fresh ideas and inventive solutions that often develop as creative conflicts are resolved. This paper discusses analytical methods and solutions applicable to oppositional interactions during creative collaboration.
