Abstract
This paper focuses on application of fluid/structure interaction to tire analysis, such as hydroplaning analysis and prediction of tire traction on snow. Tire deformation is calculated by FEM, and fluid flow is calculated by FVM. Furthermore the fluid/structure interaction between tire and fluid is considered, in which the Lagrangian mesh (tire) and the Eulerian mesh (fluid) are defined independently and their coupling is computed. The complex fluid/structure interaction such as road/tire interaction could be analyzed. Predicted results are in good agreement with experimental data.
