Abstract
This paper focuses on the high-speed distributed collaborative engineering environment via Main Memory Database (MMDB). MMDB is a new type of database system implemented on the semiconductor main memory. Because of its random and high-speed access ability to the data, MMDB is also expected as the platform of concurrent engineering systems sharing the same data among the physically distributed computers. The characteristics, possibilities and merits are discussed and engineering examples are proposed.
