Abstract
We study a recursive optimal design approach of truss structure. Member buckling of truss structure is consid ered. In order to calculate member bukling load, the member length and the second moment of the cross-section are required; however, these are not immediately available in the framework of the recursive optimal design approach so far. In this study, an approach to take account of member buckling in a recursive manner is developed. Example optimal designs are conducted and the results show the practicability of the proposed approach.
