Abstract
Internet is increasingly becoming popular and market creation using this technology is getting wide attention. Yet, most of them just replay the role of the traditional Japanese "shosha" and there are very few which provides the user with the joy of participating in the process. Process value is nothing less than product value. Rather sometimes process values are more important than product values. So to explore the possibilities of creating process values by introducing remote laboratory technology, remote laboratory system was developed. The remote student designs a connecting rod, which is then machined by a milling machine in the laboratory at a distance. The instructor in the laboratory installs the connecting rod thus designed on the engine and conducts a trial run, which is viewed by the remote student via internet video. The experiments demonstrate rich possibility of using remote laboratory technology for such a purpose.
