Abstract
Aodamo (Fraxinus lanuginosa) is usually used for baseball bats. The objective of this study is to prove the variation in mechanical properties of aodamo grows in Hokkaido. Torsional test, static bending test, compressive test (parallel to grain), partial compressive test (perpendicular to grain) and shearing test were performed to specimens of aodamo cut at Nikappu, Shizunai and Urakawa which were located in Hidaka-shicho, and test results of 3 regions were compared. As a result, specific gravity and most other properties for Nikappu were a little greater than those for the others. However, it was hard to arrive at the definite conclusion because only 2-4 logs per a region were available in this study.
