Abstract
The Sludge sedimentation in a crude oil storage tank causes various problems such as, bad influence to an arrival at bottom obstruction of a float roof at the time of crude oil discharge, increase of dead space of a tank, increase of a cleaning process at the time of liberation inspection, increase of expense and an Acoustic Emission measurement. Recently, the surface temperature measurement by infrared thermography method is proposed as the technique of measuring the sludge level of a crude oil tank efficiently, and it is verified that the sludge sedimentation level measurement the tank shell is possible. However, it is difficult that precisely measures a sludge sedimentation level from a normal infrared image. By this study, the purpose of this paper is to put measurement of sludge level to practical use; we developed hardware and software that can measure a sludge sedimentation level quantitatively.
