Abstract
A method to generate surfaces for style design using the analytic solution of the wave equation is presented. Our method modifies the evanescent terms of the wave solution in order to express a surface by composition of plane waves with variable wave number. Each plane waves have the property of attenuation, therefore, boundary curves can be generated due to the varying wave number. The presented surface equation of the patch consists of boundary curves and several parameters. Thus, designer can intuitively generate a surface by designating boundary curves and changing parameters.
