Abstract
In order to construct desk top fabrication system, the sizes of machine tools are requested to be miniaturized. With miniaturization of the body sizes of machine tools, their rigidity tend to decrease. As a result, the deformation of machine body often causes significant machining error. This study tries to reduce the error due to the body deformation only by compensating the tool position with keeping the compact size of machine body. The displacement of the tool position caused by deformation error is predicted by the relation between the body deformation and the cutting load. This study introduces the compensation method for a commercially downsizing machine tool and inspects its availability.
