Abstract
As an effective way to support workers in the shop floor in shipbuilding, authors already have developed some AR (Augmented Reality) applications for shipbuilding. These AR applications are dedicated to support sheet metal forming work, pipe installation work and outfitting work respectively, and each AR applications can guide workers by indicating effective information through AR technology. This paper describes a brief introduction about each AR applications, and considers those possibilities on those introduction to shipyards, but also those technical ramification especially on design data handling from the shop floor and on real-time manufacturing management of the shop floor. As those AR applications prove to be useful even in shipbuilding by some demonstration, those developments are shifting toward commercial ones at present.
