Abstract
Car and ride sharing services are diffusing in recent years. However, there are few studies to quantify the environmental and economic aspects of these sharing services from a viewpoint of the whole product life cycle. This study analyzes the environmental effects of the transition from ownership to sharing services quantitatively using life cycle simulation. The following three steps were carried out: 1) Modeling the causal relationship between variables in the business models of ownership and sharing services, 2)Developing a life cycle simulation model of gasoline vehicles based on the causal relationship, and 3) Analyzing the transition scenarios. As the result, it is found that the environmental load decreases with the diffusion of sharing services.
