Abstract

This paper considers promoting not only recycling through destructive dismantle but also encouraging the reuse of parts and components through disassembly to achieve an environmentally friendly circular economy system. However, in many cases, the high cost of disassembly makes it economically unfeasible, preventing the possibility of reuse even when there is a desire to reuse the parts. In this paper, we propose an evaluation method that incorporates consideration for both environmental impact and economic feasibility. This method aims to maximize the disassembly profit (subtract the cost of disassembly process from the value of removed parts.) while satisfying the constraints of the disassembly sequence. To achieve the above, we propose a method using DSM (Design Structure Matrix) partitioning techniques. This paper evaluates the coffee maker as a case study and propose a disassembly sequence that maximizes business feasibility. Additionally, proposed method is able to provide guideline for design modifications to make disassembly easier.
