Hazard Analysis Focused on Operation in Space System Using Systems-Theoretic Process Analysis

Abstract

STPA (Systems Theoretic Process Analysis) is a hazard analysis that focuses on the interfaces between the constituted subsystems or the components of a system. One of the advantages is the applicability of the method even at the conceptual design stage when the details of the elements have not been decided yet. This study discusses the effect of focusing on the interfaces at the conceptual design stage for the hazard analyses exampled by considering the operations of the space systems such as a cubesat and a space smart antenna systems.
