Abstract
In this paper, we pay attention to fundamental mechanisms of the space elevator climber. We developed the mechanism that can ensure the stable ascent and descent of the climber. We also developed the experimental equipment similar to a treadmill which was used to examine the climber's operation. As a result, ascent and descent of the climber without slippage of the wheels was successfully achieved.
