Abstract
It is generally considered that an elevator traveling cables for a high-rise building can be resonated by the building sway caused by wind forces or long-period ground motion. For making this point clear, we studied behavior of the traveling cables using the simulation model. The simulation model is constructed by multi-degree of freedom for actual high-rise traveling cable, and is identified by the results of cable excitation experiment. This simulation model can reproduce the motion of cable carried a long-period vibration also. This paper describes the results such as resonance characteristic of traveling cables etc.
