Abstract
Many various tourists will come to the Tokyo Olympic and the Paralympics games in 2020. There is a pressing need to the universal design transportation systems including elevators in the metropolitan area. We developed the universal design elevator installed in a railway station. Assuming various users (the Physically challenged, stroller user, et al) and usages, the usability tests are conducted in association with the volunteers. As a result, we've gained a great deal of technical and artistic knowledge, concerning about the configurations and arrangements of the operating panel and the position of the handrail in an elevator car. This paper introduces the better accessibility in an elevator car.
